first day of class=insanity!!!
Today was just freaking insane I don't ever, ever want to do that again. It started out all perfect and all--I spent yesterday making sure I knew my way to my classes and had time to get to them. 8:30-10:00 Creative Writing went well. In fact, I think I'm going to like that class a whole lot. For one, there is no poetry! Whoo! And the teacher ish interesting. My Bio class was a discussion so it was nothing. And then I went back to my dorm and the nightmare started.
First off, an e-mail was sent to me by the lady in charge of the Jap classes. Due to Toronto trip, I barely missed (but did) the placement exam. So I had to go to her office at 12:30PM. In that e-mail that I got at 12:00-ish, it stated that I should've gone to the second year Jap I wanted to go into...which started at 11:00. So I gave up on that and figured I'll just walk to where the lady's office was. I thought I was being really smart leaving at 12:00. Gave myself half an hour to walk across campus. But of course, I got lost. Reaally lost. Darn campus is freaking huuuge. Finally found the building, then got lost in that one again. Made it to her office at 12:35 to find...she wasn't there. Waited twenty minutes, she appeared. She gave me the placement test. One look, flipping through the pages (it was last years exam) I realized that...that poopy New Zealand-er taught us NOTHING. I was in Japanese class for four years and I learned absolutely nothing on grammar (which the entire exam was about. I just barely passed it. Both me and the teacher agreed that I should probably stay in first year, get the easy A, and actually learn grammar (seeing how I picked most of it up from anime @___@). By then it was about 1:45 and she was all like "yeah, you should hurry up and go to the last bit of the first year class" (which started at 1:00 and ended at 2:00). She gave me the room number and building and I ran there...teacher yelled at me for being late. But she kinda forgave me after I explained the situation. So I added the class without really being added to it since there isn't enough room...
Which brings me to another headache. The maximum credit you can take is 18 (to prevent mental breakdown) and for at least this week, I'm taking 20. My schedule is a freaking nightmare. It's because I don't have the class in my schedule and it seems that there isn't enough room for me to just be added into a class, let alone a recitation group. And I can't drop a class yet because if there isn't room for me in the class, then I won't have enough credits to be considered a full time student. Also if I don't take Japanese, I have to take the placement exam AGAIN next semester andand RAWR.
Around 2:15 I go back to my dorm trying to figure out how to fix my schedule and then I realized I had a 2:30 history class. Thank goodness I was on the net (because my printer broke down so I couldn't print out my schedule) or else I would've forgotten I even had the class. Freaking out (for it was now 2:31) I ran out the dorm to the class which was like...across the campus. There are no more chairs left in the room of 100+ students. Luckily I wasn't the last one even (though I was panting and sweating all gross-like).
There's some other issues in the afternoon but their more minor than an actual pain. Bought the books I couldn't get online, my shiny Jap textbooks, and then... ~sighs~ The stupid cash register duude forgot to return my credit card to me. And I was distracted enough to forget about it. Thankfully I went to other bookstores after eating dinner and realized I was missing the card. Ran back to the story and thankfully the card was still there. Was so panicked and...rawr-ish.
But that is over. Tomorrow is going to be another mini-insanity. Mainly because I have five back-to-back classes all across campus. If I timed it right a couple hours ago, I will barely...BARELY make it to there on time.
