Delirium ficcy stuff
So like, I'm stuck. Like in a writing/posting stuck-ness. I won't call it writer's block because it isn't. It's a fireclaw block. Or the block of fireclaw! And Alanor isn't helping because no one ish there and like all my characters are more or less stuck because nothing ish happening. ~kicks~ Sucks muchies because I want to rp Fia because even though she irrates me muchies, she's an interesting character that I really want to develop but she's stuck stuck stuck. Booo. And I don't feel like writing a one shot with her because it would turn monsterous because she's ranting kinda character and fireclaw rants too much and together it's just one huge...rant.
And I'm really stuck on D7. I only have two pages done and it's been more than a month as a really cool dude mentioned. I spent most of my afternoon trying to write it but it's hard. It's probably because I finally got to where I wanted to the most, D6.
So I think I just put up a bunch of notes/explanation from previous chapters so I can gather my thoughts. Rereading what I wrote will probably help...urgh.
The Japanese House, General:
Most of the information that I used in D1-3 regarding the "traditional" (read: old fashion/rich person's) home was done my junior year in Jap 4. We spent like three months, if not more, on the project. Though it wasn't really extensive, it's just retardedly slow because Sensei is lazy. Most of the research I did on free computer time because we spent like two weeks in the lab doing more or less nothing and since you can't go on lj, gj, or forums on the school computers (thus couldn't rp), fireclaw did extra research.

In the beginning of the fic, in D1-3, the home played a really important part. I guess you could say the "Kuga-Fujino" home is characterized by both of them and I used various areas of it to characterize the overall mood. Like with D3 the contrast between the "lonely, uninhabited" house compared to the more alive one in the flashback. The areas of the home I focused on were:
Genkan: the entrance of the home. Obvious like the threshold of everything, beginning and the end. Shizuru enters the genkan during that one flashback in D1 with the rain and everything after uttering "Natsuki is the idiot" or something like that. Kinda symbolizing how she's retreating farther away from the world? Natsuki's hands dig into the wooden walls of it when Shizuru leaves and gets splinters...yada yada. In D1 there are a gabijillion symbols in there because I spent literally months of the chapter. Like tea. mmm, tea.
btw, sobe green tea ish very good. Even though it taste more ginko/ginseng-ish than green tea. But I like ginko and ginseng so all ish good.
Engawa: the veranda. Like the outdoor-ish walkway of the home that merges with the garden. Tis where most of the not!action takes place in D2. Used it as a place of reflection in both D1 and D2. In D1 Natsuki's finally made a decision and kinda starts all her thinking. D2 she comes to her epiphany , however you spell it.
Ima (or chanoma): I think I read somewhere that "chanoma" is old-fashion-ish way of saying ima. It's probably because most homes don't have so much of dining/tea room anymore as much as a bunch of rooms that does everything. I'm not too sure, so correct me on this one. Natsuki's and Shizuru's home is pretty big. I never figured actual specifics, but they have more than three or four rooms so they can use them for different functions. I guess Shizuru sets one aside to do her chado lessons in.
I use the word "room" really loosely when talking about the house. A better word would probably be "spaces" since there isn't so much walls in the home as much as sliding doors. So if you slide a door or two, you can totally make various spaces larger or smaller to accomadate.
The Japanese Garden:
There are a four various styles of Japanese gardens, all with specific purpose in mind. In a nutshell:
Strolling gardens (shuyuniwa): Self explanatory. Supposed the garden is bested viewed at many angles. Kinda like a wandering mind or something.
Pond gardens (kaiyuniwa): Gardens that are supposed to viewed on a boat.
Tea gardens (chaniwa): Small plain-ish garden that is supposed to be part of where the tea house is around.
Meditation gardens (kashoniwa): Unlike the shuyu gardens, the kasho is supposed to viewed in a single place. Supposedly to invoke, well, meditation as well as different outlooks which is why there are usually sand and rocks.
I was debating what kind of garden (niwa) to use and figured that the kashoniwa would reflect the mood in D2 the best since that chapter was supposed to be the "reflecting" chapter. After all, somehow there needs to be a bridge between the entire mess.
Nazen-ji: Famous Kyoto Garden that I took a liking to. The garden in D2 it based slightly off of it. For more infomation go to: http://learn.bowdoin.edu/japanesegarden
Aoi Festival: Celebrated on May 15 in Kyoto. It's about a 1400 year old festival, so very old-ish. Supposed to be super refined and a time to pay tribute to the gods and like the costumes are really pretty and elegant. It was a close to the timeline and it worked quite well for the setting seeing how it was really old-styled.
Koizumi Yasuo: Originally I wanted him to be more like my OC from the Picnic one-shot, but I really don't like sticking OCs in fics because, well, no one likes them--I don't like them--because well ~waves arms~ Fanfic! You read about characters you already know 'n want to read about. Others just suck and steal the attention. Which is why Yasuo was supposed to look and seem really forgettable. Personality-wise, he totally channels Alois, my Alanor duude, who is super playful. Which is awesome, the fic is too angsty without some tension breakers. Alois love! ~hugs dire wolf turned werewolf turned garlanger fey~ Oh yeah, Koizumi is also supposed to be a really powerful surname in recent times. Except it's more politics than buisness which ish okies, cuz he's an oddball. I guess his last name would explain how he's childhood friends with Shizuru since they're both pretty high up there.
Originally he was going to be the grandson of Takako, the old cackling witch. But it got confusing and I really don't want to develop them more than I have to.
Kiyohime: Not going to say everything because I still have lots of plans for her. Mine's based staight from the legends. Except there are many variations of it so I mixed a couple to fit what I wanted and stuck her into Fuuka grounds instead of wherever the legends are. This Kiyohime is all ghost-like and like most ghosts, she is drawn to certain people...rather, certain emotions. She's fond of taking over Orphans and changing them to fit her image (big many headed purple snake from the anime). In some HiME festivals she'll be an actual Child of a HiME if the said HiME is desperate woman with unreturned love since she's drawn to that kinda stuff. Actually, it's more like she feeds off those emotions to get stronger. In manga-verse, she wasn't drawn to any of them so she was resting. Well, sorta since the moment Shizuru walk by where she was she got drawn to her and had been inhabiting her ever since. So when Shizuru get's all desperate feeling, Kiyohime gains stronger and stronger. And since Shizuru's been bottling those feelings up for nearly a decade when she finally explodes...there's lots of emotion there. Tis enough for Kiyohime to fully emerge even without a HiME host. I guess this Kiyohime also has the abilities to give Shizuru HiME-like qualities.
Delirium:
Most commonly, the word delirium means "a state of violent excitement or emotionm," to borrow from dictionary.com. The second meaning is the psychological disorder. The DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition) states that several main symptons include: changes in cognitive abilities, a disturbance of consciousness where one isn't able to perceive reality clearly, and ...I can't read my own scribbles. Hallucinations, delusions, and extreme emotional states are often a common parts as well, but not necessary in the diagnosis.
In this fic, the title is usually just referring to the the non-mental disorder definition. Anyway, title itself can refer to:
Natsuki: Her emotions are constantly fluctuating during the fic as she tries to work the mess out. In D1 in the first part she's kinda detached as if everything isn't happening. And before, when it was a one-shot, the entire fic could probably be seen as such. It was, after all, in manga-verse and a...break apart fic. Like everything didn't happen, everything vague and open-ended-ish.
Kiyohime: of all the duudes, she's probably the one most likely to have the actual disorder.
...I'm going to finish this later cuz I'm tired.
